Distant Neighborhood directed by Dorian Rossel (Switzerland), is inspired by the acclaimed manga by Jiro Taniguchi and tells the story of Hiroshi, a 48-year-old comic book artist.
On his way home from a business trip, Hiroshi makes an unexpected detour through his hometown. A visit to his mother’s grave triggers an inexplicable event: he finds himself transported back in time, reliving several months of his childhood—while retaining the awareness and experience of his adult self.
Returned to his teenage years, Hiroshi remembers that his father is about to leave the family. Determined to change the course of events, he tries to intervene. But can the past truly be rewritten without altering who we are?
The performance explores memory, identity, and the fragility of family bonds. It is not a story about regret, but about understanding. About the second chance time seems to offer—and the essential question: can we change anything without losing ourselves?
