A modern vision of the classic "Macbeth", directed by Mihai Ţarnă and inspired by the works of William Shakespeare and Eugen Ionesco. The play is a classical tragedy, which brings to the fore a frantic passion that eventually causes a political upheaval and the confrontation between moral values.
In his conversation with The Three Witches, Macbeth is told that he is destined to become king, which makes him and his wife, Lady Macbeth, to receive the news as an all-too-desired reality. Staying overnight in Macbeth's castle, in the midst of a great feast, Duncan, the King of Scotland, is assassinated. At last, Macbeth becomes the king of Scotland and the prediction voiced by The Three Witches comes true.
Macbeth is swamped by his pride, while Lady Macbeth, consumed by remorse, becomes an accomplice, a wife unable to uplift her husband. Eventually, the loss of sleep turns to be their ‘reward’ for betrayal and murder.
Macbeth's next encounter with The Three Witches predicts that ‘only a man not born of a woman, can kill him’.
